Day two's London post will be a lot shorter since most the places we went wouldn't allow pictures! On Wednesday, we got the London pass, which got us into many different locations at no charge. Well we thought it was unlimited for one day but it turned out to be only up to an 80 pound value... Sucks that they didn't advertise that at all so we missed out on one attraction we REALLY wanted to go to! Even if we knew we would have still gotten the pass, we would have just decided what attractions we valued the most instead of taking a circle approach.
Our first stop was St. Paul's Church. This is the Church where Princess Diana was married to Prince Charles.
Here is the side entrance. At one part of the tour you could climb up 20 flights of stairs to the whispering gallery which is in the dome. If you face the wall on one side of the dome and whisper you can hear is all the way around! The dome is actually three different pats as well: an inner dome, which you view from inside; Then a cone on top of that which supports an outer dome, which is there because the inner dome wasn't tall enough to be seen over the skyline.
After the whispering Gallery you can climb another 15 flights of stairs and walk around the outside of the dome. Here is the view. The church was AMAZING! It is obviously a symbol as a haven for Londoners everywhere. The ornate glass work mosaic ceiling depicting the creation periods and the wood gallery for the choir was amazing. I am really sad that we couldn't get picture of the inside. If you go to London this is SO WORTH THE MONEY!
After the Church we went to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre! This is a replica of the original which burned down in the 15th century! This is exactly like the original though! All the Pillars are actually solid Oak! They are painted to look marble! They also have a trap door in the ceiling and the ground for grand entrances!
These are the boxes where the royal royal upper class would have sat when they would have come to a show. They would have had miserable view of the stage but that was good because everyone would have been able to see them, so it is like they were part of the show. The royalty would actually sit behind the stage!
This is where the canon went off for a special effect which started the fire that burned down the original.
Here is a small scale model or what it looks like. It was built today out of solid oak and a thatch roof, like the one that burned down the whole stadium last time. They are the only structure in London allowed to have it!
Brent with some of the costumes. Every now and again they have full out plays with all men wearing expensive costume (upwards of 20,000 pounds).
Here is one of the trees they use as props! It was a really really cool center!
This was a great start to day two! I mean amazing. These two top the list for me of amazing places to see in London!
