Caliah's First Bath

Look at our innocent Caliah-bear! She is just sitting by the door thinking she is going to go out for one last play before she has to come in and go to bed... little did she know that soon we were going to be getting her ready for her first bath!
Now we aren't terrible parents. We Love her but when Spencer commented on how bad she smelled we knew it was time to give her a bath. I was in charge of hosing her down, Brent held her (and got super clawed in the process, Spencer was in charge of the Shampoo application (suave kind) and Erica was on Camera duty!
Caliah was not happy, she freaked out really bad until Brent told me the water was burning so I turned on the cold and then she just started meowing SUPER SUPER LOUD, kept clawing but seemed a little more calm. Doesn't this picture break your heart?

A nice post-bath family picture
Caliah was so calm after. She just stayed wrapped in her towel and cuddled with me. We probably stayed together for a good ten minutes with her just letting me hold her.
All in all the bath lasted about one minutes and Caliah wasn't a huge fan, but if you saw the dirt that came off of her you would say it was worth it too! It should have probably lasted a little longer. I think baths will become a monthly family activity!

Our First Home

Brent and I are soon going to be moving away from Utah for 8 months. We usually leave for four months during the summer and keep our apartment and then move back when school starts up again. Since we are going to be gone for so long, we are actually giving up our apartment for good. We spent the first three years of our married life here together so it is going to be a bitter sweet good bye. Here is what our first apartment looked like so that we can always remember how we use to live!
First, how we found this apartment. I will admit I am very very thrifty... okay cheap. So before we got married I was looking online at the Brigham Young University housing website. There were terrible apartments for $400 dollars. They were small, dark, infested. One was so small you could sit you use the bathroom and the sink would be over your lap! Well I found this apartment listed for $425. As soon as we walked in I knew this is somewhere we could live! This was at the beginning of July. So I went to talk about and see if we could reserve the apartment in August. Well our landlord is 90 something and cheaper than me so she said NO and she has some "Mexican girl" who wanted it right away.
Well I picked up that the landlord really prefered to rent to us but was willing to play hard ball, so I used it. I said "Listen, I know you want us here. We are going to treat this like a home, not some party house. So we will take it this month if you could drop the rent $25 dollars a month." She was hesitant but finally agreed. Brent was able to sell his contract and moved in three days later. He also slept on the floor because we didn't get a bed until mid august anyway! She had no idea that we would stay for nearly three years losing her almost $1000 in rent! I didn't enjoy using her prejudice to help me
This is the taken from the front door.
Taken from the far window. Notice the big grate... that was our heater that we didn't mind. It was great when you were cold. Stand over it and be warm in 30 seconds!
Bedroom from the living room door. The hanging dog was my Valentines Day present, and I am not really sure how he got all the way up there!
This is from the far corner, my side of the bed! We had an entire wall of shelving and were SO SO grateful for it! By the way I made all the curtains and window treatments myself!
Our bed. Brent's Mom made the Comforter which we love. It is starting to look really worn, so now we have to try and convince her to make us a new one!
Back in the family room leading into the worlds shortest Hallway.
In the Hallway if you take and immediate right you will end up here. The Bathroom! Probably the worst places in our entire apartment, but something that we lived through because of cheap rent!
From the closed door at the far side!
What is through that door? Our Laundry room, which has the most junk in the whole place! That is why there is only one picture. Notice how the dryer isn't shut. It is because Brent broke it after he tried to climb in it while he was sick and on medication. That was a game of Hide-and- go seek that I will never forget. He didn't realize it was broken until he felt better the next morning.
From the Hallway into the Kitchen! Nothing to special. I got the white shelf for free from someone who was moving and the table was a gift from Maren. I make the wall Sconces too!
This is from the Back door perspective. I like that the cabinets are all country themed with white cabinets and green trim, and the floor is straight from the 1970's. I am not sure who decorated this apartment but it really adds to the overall chaos of the apartment! That Portable dishwasher was one of my single greatest purchases in history. The dishwasher is probably also from the 1970's and it took over two hours to run but it was the BEST $150 I have ever spent... thus far.
This is from the right side of the Dishwasher. Ever summer when we come home, before we can set her food out Caliah will run right next to the oven and meow... Notice her food. She is one odd cat because she ALWAYS wants someone to watch her eat. It starts out funny and gets annoying really quick!
This is from the left side of the dishwasher. This actually a pretty decent amount of cabinet space and a ton of shelving.

I always expected to live in a "dump" when I first got married and I think my expectations were pretty right on. Despite that fact this apartment made a pretty good home for Brent and I to spend the first three years of our lives together. This place was a hole, but it was a great find and keeping it for so long has permanently ingrained it in our minds and hearts! We consider ourselves pretty darn luckily for stumbling upon this humble abode at the right time.

To my future Children

This post is for my future children, because I know that one day they will experience the same. I thought writing this would be therapeutic and hopefully this post will prove to them that you can make it through anything. So here we go...
****
I HATE MY JOB!!! I don't just hate it, I day-dream about storming out swearing at customers and employees alike! This is something that I know I just need to "will" through but even going in for one more day seems like the worst punishment ever.
****
I wish I could stop, I wish I could just go in an divorce myself from my work. I wish I could just shut my brain off and function as a droid as if nothing really matters. I could wash cars, pick up customers and write contracts with no thought of how much I hate it or how I really feel and putting no effort into it.
****
I just can't do it! I just can't! Every manager just spews out stupid redundant pointless garbage published by corporate to put a good public relations spin on it. I can't honestly believe that any
of them are dull enough to believe what they are saying. Does lying or smiling through absurdities make them feel like they are speaking honestly? NO! Yet they keep doing it. And what happens if I do anything to unravel their perfect little Enterprise dream? Well lets just say they don't like it at all. I feel like I am losing my mind. I feel like I am losing out on everything I built up in college. I feel like I am doing a pointless job that is glorified to trick people into staying at a job that really could be performed accurately by a chimp... or at least a high school graduate.
So what to do in a situation like this? Tough through it. I would never feel good about giving up on a job for a month that would actually make us lot more money and put us in a much better situation for this summer, Brent's tooth, Fall in Budapest, and Winter Tuition. So here is my solution:
  • Don't try to enjoy it, just realize it sucks and that it will be over in a month
  • Take as much time off as possible... I have days off and I will use them with no consideration for how this may appear to my superiors
  • Don't give up on working hard, it is just who I am
  • Don't Stress, this isn't worth it. Just put in your hours.
AND MOST IMPORTANT: WHEN THERE IS A PARTICULARLY MISERABLE DAY, HOPEFULLY MY KIDS WILL HAVE AN AMAZING SPOUSE WHO WILL...
Take me out to Panda Express and Ice cream just so I can feel better and make it through another miserable day. Supports my crazy declaration of quitting and walking out because he knows I love him to much.
****
I know this will pass and none of this will seem as bad in the end but for now this is just a miserable part of my wonderful life.

Going to Portland

So these two people are the reason Brent and I got to make a special trip to Portland for Blair's Farewell and Brody's blessing. Blair's Farewell was really good. he gave a great talk and everyone loved it! My mom bought me a new dress to wear It is good to know that after 22 years she still can dress me better than myself! Although I spent the majority of the weekend holding BBrody and listening to his cough while he was sick, Braden also played a prominent role in the weekend It was really fun because Braden doesn't realize he is one of the little kids. So when Stevie let the kids sword fight with him Braden was all in!

He also watched intently as the the boys played with the wuffle ball game and they weren't the only ones to master the art!

Even some of the adults got in on the action!
Brent only held Brody a total of three times but brags because on time was a "whole twenty minutes!" Well I had trouble letting the little guy go!
Portland was a really fun trip but it went by completely to quickly! Brent and I can't wait to be back in Oregon for the summer and we are only about 6 weeks away from that joy!
Like I said in my earlier post This trip made me incredibly baby hungry. I promised my mom no surprises until after Budapest but I would like to leave you with on of my favorite picture! Tell me what you think!

Audrey's Baby Shower

So while we were in Portland, Maren, Kalen and I threw one of the most deserving people in the world a party!
You may think it is this person... who is terribly deserving but... Unfortunately it wasn't for her it was for...

BABY AUSTIN!

One of the funniest moments is when Braden open the door he became the little host!!!! He would say, "Hello, come on in, I can take your presents!" The first couple he would try to take for himself, but we would remind it for baby Austin. I am sure Braden was thinking "Man, this baby Austin sure has nerve not even showing up for his own party!

It was a really fun shower and the spread of food was pretty good. My mom bought and edible fruit thing, and it was amazing. I really enjoyed the duck piggy bank it can in but at the same time I think I would prefer to try and make my own.

It was a great shower and everyone who came gave Audrey some great present and I got some great conversation!
Here are two pictures of the party can you spot the difference? Just leave me a message and those who are correct get 100 extra points!
It was a super fun party and I am glad we got to come home for BBlair's farewell and tie this in as well. This trip made me more baby hungry than ever!

One Random Night

This is a video of what put in motion one of the most randoms nights of our lives.

That is right our microwave started sparking after Brent cleaned it. he maintained that he didn't do anything out of the ordinary, so we aer not really sure what happened to it but it officially died on us (that is what we get for trying to stay clean right!) Luckily, Christina and Jason had an extra microwave so she brought it down and the we had to go up to Magna to pick it up! So we decided to drag Erica and Spencer along.

After we picked up the microwave we would attempted to go to Leatherby's (a old fashion diner with amazing ice cream) Well we went into one we had never seen and they were serving Mexican Food and ice cream. That was just to odd of a mixture so we left and head to...

IKEA! This full dish was only $1.00. So we were all able to get a full dinner for just $1.00
After we HAD to go down to the Ikea fast track and got hot dogs and some lingenberry juice! We were going to get Ice Cream at Ikea but it was a dollar so we thought we could do Macey's later. So we were off to Cabella's to check it out!

They had a collection of stuffed animals, it was pretty neat.

They also had a target shooting range, I got a full 200 points! Don't worry Brent lived!
Brent is a GOOD LOOKING marksmen! Thats right I married that!
This is mainly to illustrate how pale I am! I am Ghost White, but I will get some sun eventually.
Spencer was the only other person to get a perfect score! It was a lot of Fun!
They also had an aquarium, It was kinda neat but also sad, because some of the fish were dead and others had fins missing... I am guessing it is just normal fish stuff! I like Brent's fish face!
Erica and Spencer were so good at being along for the ride! We finished the night at Macey's getting $.89 ice cream sandwiches and ice cream! It was a really fun night all around!

Officially Done

So today my lovely husband decided that because of my half off day to take me out to lunch to pizza pie cafe. One of our favorite places to go and we had a buy one get one free coupon so I caved from my normal "save money mode" and let Brent take me out.

Well the Buffet was delicious. It was very very good but I ate entirely to much.

After coming home and taking a nap talking to my mom and a few other people I headed for the gym. This is when it hit me. I am OFFICIALLY DONE eating out (minus special occasions). I have been feeling so great lately. I am down about 18 pounds and the gym isn't the worst place in the world but today when I went I felt like a pile of poo. I pushed myself hard and had some impressive stats but for the rest of the day I just didn't feel like the food was actually worth the weight gain and the feeling like I was a greasy piece of meat.

So I officially give EVERYONE PERMISSION to call me fat names if I say I am craving eating out, because the after effect it just isn't worth it to me anymore. We will see how long this sticks but for right now I am just going to enjoy some of my own home cooking!
