Satan's Power

**NOTE: I do have some back blogging to do but since this is current I am going to do it and then go back***

It was Friday afternoon when Brent texted me to say that his friend from Law school, Abe, invited him as well as another law school friend James (wife Erin) up to his uncles cabin to go snowboarding and snow mobiling. Well I am not big on either (just wait for my Brent's Birthday blog for the explanation) but I thought it would be a fun time to get away and have some fun with friends that we don't see enough. So Saturday afternoon after work we headed up to Fairview. When we got there it was wonderful.

There were a mess of people there. Abe and his wife Traci and there baby Lelu, James and Erin, Abe's cousin Sammy and his friends Andy, Greg and Dave, and Brent and Myself. It was a house full to say the least. The cabin was owned by Sammy's dad and two of his doctor friends... well what happens when three doctors get together and go in on a cabin?

You get this Three Story Mansion! It was wonderful!

The Cabin is in a really remote area and we had to snow mobile up the mile long driveway because it was so snowed over. The whole afternoon was filled with snow mobiling, I only drove once because it really hurt my should, and snow boarding, chatting and snacking... A LOT OF SNACKING!

That night we had a wonderful dinner of Costco Roasted Chicken (by the way I am converted those things are great), rice and corn. As well as cookies, popcorn, and other treats. Then we watched a... CHICK FLICK!!!! In a house full of 7 boys somehow two of them chose to enjoy the comfort and hilarity of the movie Post Grad!

Brent and I really enjoyed just relaxed together while other people enjoyed the outside.

The night was full of laughter and Traci, Erin and I finally got to chat and hang out, I wish stupid work would stop getting in the way of that!!! :)

Well this morning (Sunday) Brent and I decided that we had to leave by 9:05 to get to church on time. So we packed up and ate a wonderful breakfast of eggs, pancakes and hashbrown's cooked by Greg and Dave. By the way strawberry yogurt with whip cream on top of pancakes is awesome. Well it hit 9:10 and we knew that we needed to get out the door. So we go outside and fire up one of the snowmobiles to trek down and then we see over the corner another snow mobile flipped sideways over the edge and no way for Abe and James (driver and passenger) to get it on the road.

Brent looks at me and says "I gotta go help them" and I agreed. so he took off to help them and I went back inside for twenty minutes while Brent was helping them. Abe came back up and said we were going to pick up Brent and he and I could go home while they retrieve the snow mobiles.

Here is what I saw.

All the boys talked and Sammy decided to ride it further down the hill instead of trying to pull it back up. So we are free to go.

Well we got down the mountain and Brent went to grab the car and loaded it then pulled it over to the loading zone. James came down on his snowboard so we posed for one last picture before heading out... James head got cut off because we weren't using our good camera.

That was all good and fun, and we were only running a half hour so we could still make it on time to church as long as we hurried. Until we realized...

BRENT LOCKED THE KEYS IN THE TRUCK WHILE IT WAS RUNNING!!!

Luckily the door wasn't shut all the way, just enough to latch shut. Well Brent James, and myself had NO IDEA how to fix the situation. James rode up to the house to try and find a hanger, a snow plow came by but he didn't help at all until Greg came skiing down the hill! He pulled his truck over and found a rake,

He promptly cut off the metal part and stared shaving the end into a point so we could roll down the window.

As Greg pushed the door open with a metal wrench Brent used the rake to successfully roll the window down. We were able to finally take off. It was kind of fun to try and solve the problem. I am not even sure what we would have done if Greg didn't have the rake in his truck or if the truck door had shut all the way.

Needless to say Satan has a way of making church attendance really difficult sometimes, but we got there during the closing hymn in sacrament meeting, but we got there which is really what counts!

SUCH A GOOD WEEKEND!!!! HOPE WE GET TO HAVE ANOTHER ONE REALLY REALLY SOON! THANKS YOU TO EVERYONE!

Forsberg New Year

Well in hopes of keeping up with my blogging trend I am blogging (really soon) about the Forsberg New Year. As many of you know Maren is prego with baby #2 (which is the work title for the baby) so she didn't feel comfortable driving anywhere for Christmas. Well we all understood so we volunteered to come to them instead of making them come to us. Brent and I got there on Tuesday night, we were planning to go to the tri-cities temple but with out Utah ignorance we though there would be a session every hour or something and there... wasn't. So basically we missed the time by a lot so we ended up in Pullman a few hours earlier than expected.
Well, lets face it the main attraction was Braden, so when we got there it was mid nap. When he work up he ran downstairs took one look at us and ran away. He didn't warm to us to quickly but as soon we gave him his present he warmed to BRENT right away... notice that only Brent part. He is definitely a boys boy.

Braden continued to be adorable for the next two days while Maren took us on the ten minute tour of the town and we got Brent addicted to Ticket to Ride (thanks Maren I am not sure we needed another addiction to ANOTHER GAME, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE WII). When the rest of the family arrived (after a terrible drive through a snow storm, presents were finally passed out!

Braden kept grabbing ever wrapped item and would start to rip it open until we told him who to give it to. Most of the presents were for him but it was so cute watching him run around handing out the Present. Maren and Blake are in for a surprise next year because Braden definitely understand who Santa is now.

We got Mom and dad what they wanted but opened nothing ourselves since we opened the wii in Boise and that was basically the ultimate present. For the rest of the week we did a lot of relaxing. The movie that we went to was Sherlock Holmes. It was a good thriller and in true Holmes fashion only explained all the tricks after you were completely convinced.

One of the highlights of the weekend was sitting in the hot tub at the hotel and claiming we wouldn't leave until we had a name for Baby #2... well we failed and got out. I swear it isn't our fault that Baby #2 is being so difficult. Frankly this baby is becoming a little bit particular and Blake and Maren will probably have their hands full in a little under a month.

It was a really relaxing weekend. Nothing amazing happened and I didn't work out but I am so glad that we got some time to unwind with the family. Plus Blair had a big announcement, he officially got his mission call to

TALLAHASSEE FLORIDA!!!!

I can't be more proud of my little brother! He is about to embark on a great great experience and will have such a great time with the opportunity to serve and love the people of Florida! It was a good Christmas and it absolutely sucked to have to rejoin the working world! YIKES WISH ME LUCK!!!!

Huntley Christmas

If you followed my blog, which none of you probably do, there has been nothing since thanksgiving. Some of you may think that we simply have done nothing of consequence and that Christmas never even happened but that would be a lie a ton has happened and I have been a terrible blogger.
First we went to Boise, it was a busy 5 days as Brent helped his brother renovate his parents down stairs and I relaxed on the couch playing with neices and nephews (Mainly Tyler who is always a blast to hang out with she is such a chill tween I love it!). We beat his parents at cards a whole bunch of times until Brent finally decided that he can not play anymore because it isn't challenging anymore. I think 2 years of compulsive game play is a pretty good run for one game so I am not to sad to see it end. There have been talks about me learning to play ROOK but I am just not sure that I see that happening. We went up to Christi's for Christmas day and it was a blast. We Bingo and although I am always afraid we are going to leave with a ton of clutter I am always happy with what we bring home. Overall it was a fun fun time but Brent's mom went over the top with Presents. Here is a list off the top of my head,
Mallory Brent
Jeans Mario Kart for the Wii
2 oz cups (1200 of them!) PJ Pants
Toe nail stencils 2nd Wii controller
Michi Purse (with 12 covers!) Chocolate

Plus two big shopping bags of little things like homemade hot coco, ear phones, head scratchers and a ton of other stuff. I was so excited. Jason and Christina had us in the Sibling exchange and also overspent their budget by a ton! They got us a steam mop, which we got and LOVE!!! Our kitchen floor actually looks clean (expect blog in the future) and foot massage that broke after one use. When we took it back they were all out so we got another walmart gift card. We made out like bandits.
Presents are definitely a focus at the Huntley house and I can always get inboard because I love buying presents for people more than I love getting them! Just ask Brent!
This Christmas we decided to not get each other presents... well I never had any real intention of following my own rule and neither did Brent. He bought me a beautiful pearl necklace and Tyler bought me the matching earrings to go with it! I wore it the entire break because I don't want them to get damaged at work!
I love my pearls but I got Brent something a little more... I got him slippers, toilet bowl cleaner (his favorite) a wii baseball game (which he played the entire weekend), and four tickets to a mariners baseball game. I got a super good deal on everything but Brent was pretty upset with me and I could enjoy watching him open the presents more! His dad commented on my big smile the entire time.
You would think that nothing could top mariners tickets for someone who only joined twitter to get updates but something did, and it wasn't from me. What was it you ask...
A NINTENDO WII!!!!
I told my mom how Brent had wanted one really bad and she needed no other convincing and went an bought him one! Because of a great deal I also got a $50 walmart gift card which I wasn't expected. I was also threatened that if I used it on groceries I would have to pay my mom back the money... don't worry I didn't by groceries (expect post soon!)
Brent's Parents basement was also finished while we were there and it looks pretty amazing. It was once full to the brim but it is now carpeted, painted and beautiful.
Christmas is always a good time, especially at the Huntley house, and we can't wait until next year!

Tires, Transfers and Thanksgiving

Once again I have been terrible about posting so there is quite a bit to update everyone on!

First... Brent's parents came to visit in mid November. They were doing a show up in salt lake so that is where we spent most of our time. I love going to the shows. It is so much fun to see all the different booths and to see all of the new products that are coming out (although we can never really afford anything there). If there is one thing that Brent's parents love most it is definitely eating out, which kills the diet I am on! Friday night we went out to outback. I had done my homework and realized I wanted something off the kids menu... THE JOEY BURGER! I had planned out all day that this burger allowed me the right amount of calories and sounded amazing... So when the waiter go to me I turned bright red and sped through

"I know you aren't really allowed to do this but I am on a diet and working really hard and so all I really want is the joey burger off the kids menu. I know I am not young enough but that is just what I want."

Everyone started laughing at me but hey, I GOT MY JOEY BURGER!

Saturday night after the show ended we went out to Bucca de Peppo (a family style Italian restaurant). It is amazing but since I am on a diet I downed about 6 glasses of water. Well it worked perfect! I limited my eating and it worked out great except one hitch! While driving home, and I started to really feel those 6 glasses of water we heard some loud clanks and then realized we had a tire blow out!

Oh did I mention it was snowing too! So in the snow, with my bladder about to explode I "helped" Brent change the tire. I was not a happy camper but the tire got change with no real damage.

Second. I have been transferred. This happened about three weeks ago now but I am now at the Provo branch not at the American Fork. It is about 5 minuted closer to home and closer to BYU so I can visit Brent's school (although I have yet to do this). It is bittersweet because American Fork was my first office.

Finally, thanksgiving. Of course no pictures (I need to get better than that). Once again Brent's Parents came to visit. Maren was in Ogden so I got to see my little nephew and check on the one currently baking. I also got to visit with Kara and Doug in from California. It was fun seeing my family but Mama and Papa Huntley were definitley the main attraction. They had brought out niece Tyler who was so much fun to hang out with all weekend! Brent decided to do a show for his parents and it worked out really well for us! We were able to pay for our Christmas plans/presents!

Just to put any confusion to rest I did not cook. We went to Chuck-a-Rama and it was DELICIOUS!

I really need to start blogging more often! Perhaps that will be my new years resolution. I mean that is coming up pretty quickly!

Halloween Adventures

Oh Halloween! We did celebrate it, but because we have no little kids to have fun with we did it our own way... overeating and scaring ourselves silly.

We went to wingers for their all you can eat wings. I had gift certificates for buy one get one free so it was a great deal and Brent was really excited about this for a long time before.
Mike was our server (and a good friend for anyone who was not already aware). Everyone in the restaurant was dressed up and Mike made his costume himself. He is Links (NOT ZELDA) and got most of his costume from the ladies department at DI (I thought Blair would enjoy this!)

Erica and Spencer just enjoying the fun before our food came!

Oh aren't we cute?!?! We didn't dress up, I have never really liked dressing up. Yes that is my parks and rec sweatshirt from this summer, I have to represent!

Wow this much food is crazy! We took home a boxful and still haven't been able to put it all down!

After Wingers we went back to our place and carved pumpkins... Another thing I am simply terrible at. Jeremy is a true artist, he was simply pondering his canvas.

I am just drawing on the face before we set into carving it.

Erica was finishing her pumpkin up. Spencer is in the background, they are such techies they looked up their design before carving their pumpkin.

Here is Erica and Spencer's. I love how it is throwing up! I think it is so funny!

Here is our pumpkin! I like how eerie it looks! I think this is the best pumpkin we had ever made.

And here is Jeremy's pumpkin! This isn't a very good picture but it is a grave with a hand coming out of the ground! Always the most creative of us all!
Overall it was a fun Halloween! We rounded out the night by watching the movie called "The House in Connecticut". It was scary but not scary enough to keep me from sleeping! Halloween isn't my favorite holiday but it gave us a good excuse to have some fun!

Last Week in Portland

We spent this past summer in Portland and on our last Sunday there My mom, dad, Brent and myself went to this garden in downtown Portland. I am not sure what I was expecting besides a nice Sunday walk but this garden was pretty amazing.
When we arrived the gates were open and there was no one in the ticket booths. We read the signs and it said that Sundays were free, as were most other days and times (we wondered where they got all their funds to keep the place maintained.
This little waterfall was at the very beginning of the bath.
Brent loved climbing out onto any tree that had fallen into the many lakes.

This is one of the little ponds around. There was some sort of meeting going on over by the jet of water. The whole time we were there Brent kept pointing out different types of birds. Apparently when he younger he loved loved LOVED birds! It was fun having him point out all the different kinds, I can't believe he still remembers all the different types of ducks!

This was a fun last outing while out in Portland. I am still amazed at how beautiful and area this is and whoever maintained this park did a great job of creating a very peaceful area with complimenting architecture!

Any fun Parks we should visit next time we are in Portland or heck while we are in Utah?

Only in threat of death..

So Brent and I have set out some new goals, we are getting into some better life habits. Because of this we have taken a few steps forward. We now wake up at 4:45 am and going to the Orem Recreation Center where we have a monthly pass. This is all my fault of course. Brent offered to train me at home but I told him that I simply could not do it on my own and I needed someone there to push me even when I didn't want to, and that if it were him we might have some serious marital issues. I have always loved swimming, it came easy and was so fun and addicting in high school that working out was easy. I had a coach to write my work outs and friends right next to me to keep me motivated. I just knew I needed something similar
Well this week has, in short,... sucked! I hate getting started working out, especially when I am not in shape at all. I have been trying to take a couple different classes to see if anything strikes my fancy. My strength class is a lot of fun but I really hate being so tired. Well today I tried something I was hoping to really enjoy because my sister, Maren, really enjoyed it. Spinning.
Here is how the morning went down. At 4:45 am- "BEEP BEEP" went the alarm and brent and I agreed we should just go to the class at 5:30 am. The alarm goes off and Brent hops out of bed while I cherish the extra 2-3 minutes before I am forced out of bed. Brent and I showed up a few minutes early and wandered into the room hoping to look not so out of place but we were immediately spotted. The instructor came over and and asked if we were new and helped us adjust the seat, handles and resistance. I told the teacher we could only stay for half the class because of work and she was totally cool. Pedaling at first was fine, and then it got not so fine... and then it got worse... and then it got bad, and then it got miserable, and then it got unbearable and I thought...
"I hate this, I really hate this. Why does brent keep staring? I probably look as miserable as I feel. I could just stop... no one can stop me. I could just stop pedaling and be done with this miserable act."
Well let me tell you... I HATE HATE HATE SPINNING!!!! But it is basically more than that I hate all working out minus swimming!
It is then that the ephiphany came... I love swimming because stopping is not a legitimate option. If you stop swimming the consequence is drowning and death. Embarrassment I can deal with but death... probably not. To stop swimming I would have to swim across other lanes and climb out of the pool, it was just easier to keep swimming to the end of the pool. Then it was only the 2 second commitment of pushing off the wall until I was committed to returning again. So I have figured out that the best work outs for me are... THE ONES WHERE DEATH IS THE ONLY OTHER OPTION!!!!
When I have the choice of working out or dying I will inevitably choose to work out... I can't be the only one that feels this way so I have posted a new poll... what workout type are you?
No worries I will keep working out... and I will keep hating ever second of it... IF YOU HAVE SUGGESTION TO MAKE THIS EASIER LET ME KNOW!
