If you remember last week we attempted to go to a Chinese Market, a failed experience to say the least. So, this past Saturday the Salter's decided to take pity on us and help us find a huge flea market!
On our way to meet them we got to see some pretty incredible sights! If you don't know by now, Brent loves churches!
This was a statue on the underpass connecting the tram station and the bus station. We decided after much debate that this was a man who made wine... or something else in barrel's.
We meet up with the Salter's and made it to the flea market, which was actually there!
It was so much fun to look around. Brent really wanted a communist Nazi pin, but I said that would be hard to explain, so he was going to get a soviet pin instead, until he found out they were $140 dollars.
This is Cade and Kristi looking for some hand sewn table cloth runners things. This table was run by an old women who come by train every Saturday to the market to sell the hand sewn work of her small town! The Bucks purchased two and we purchased two. Typically these things aren't my style but they are so classically Hungarian that I will find something to do with them!
This is the entrance to the market. As you can tell it is very very busy, crowded, and a little dirty!
I got the chance to play with Lyla and Scarlett! These are the daughters of Kelli and Jared Salter, our resident Budapest Experts! These girls are too adorable for words. In this picture Lyla, Scarlett and I are looking at ceramic animals and making their sounds!
After we finished at the market we went shopping at the mall, went home and took a nap and then we were off to the opera!
The opera house was so grand and gorgeous! Our seats were the cheap seats and we saw Figaro. We couldn't see anything and it was in Italian and subtitled in Hungarian... Needless to say neither of us had ANY idea what was going on!
We plan to go to another musical and actually pay to get good seats. I think Beauty and the Beast is coming to town and in that case I will be more than happy to pay the $30.00 for good seats!
It was such a fun filled day. The opera house was less than a five minute walk from our front door so the idea of returning again and again is great! I am so grateful that we have such wonderful friends here who are so willing to go with us to explore and that there are so many resources and attractions available to us so close!
