Isn't it funny how plans ALWAYS seem to change. Last Saturday we had a plan. Wake-up, go to the Chinese Market, eat lunch, go to Castle Hill, go out for dinner, watch conference. Pretty easy right? Well we woke up and headed out to the Chinese Market. When we got there it looked like District 13 (reference anyone?!). Turns out it was shut down for selling to many knock off goods, which is really to bad for us. Since we rode out to the suburbs, we decided to just walk around and find something cool!
This is what China Town in Budapest looks like!
Walking through the streets in a European city is very different from the U.S. because after about 5 minutes we found this church! It was closed for the day but still very neat from the outside!
We also found this random boat. I am not sure why it was there but I felt like Braden climbing all over it! Thanks for the picture Cade and Kristi!
After we finished in China town, we decided to hit up Aquincum instead of Castle Hill. We walked for over and hour and felt like we were making no progress, so Brent and I made the choice to hop on a bus, turns out we were about three blocks from Aquincum (which are ancient Roman ruins).
This ruin was just on the side of the road and of course Brent felt like umping the fence to get a good look!
Here is the ruins! They are pretty neat. We decided not to pay the $15.00 to go inside. Sorry but once you have seen the Acropolis, and Ancient AND Roman Agora in Athens nothing even looks remotely as cool anymore!
While on the bus we saw a store call Auschwin. It looked like a Wal-mart and so we got excited. It was similar but not quite as big. Brent and I didn't bring winter jackets so we have been lookinbg for them all over! Brent found this jacket for 990 Forients (less than $5.00 USD!). I tried it on but there were no mirrors so I purchased it without even seeing myself in it! (I decided on Dark Gray instead of this green one.)
At this point in the trip we had been separated from Kristi and Cade. We arrived home first and when we finally caught up with them Kristi had bought the EXACT same jacket. She, however, did purchase the green one!
After a long day of walking around Brent and I went out to dinner at the Hummus Bar. It is super popular here and for good reason! I don't think I have ever really tried hummus but it is really delicious!
After the "Bar" we headed to campus for Morning conference. It was really nice to be able to listening and watch on our computers until and hour later the guard came around and said it was closing time! SO we packed up and had to leave. On our way home we heard some loud music and were drawn into the festival! It was a Breast Cancer awareness thing. They had an awful Hungarian singer. He was singing in English but because of his accent sounded like a bad Kermit the Frog Impersonator!
They even had the bridge all lit up for the event!
Here we are on the bridge! Getting a picture that wasn't totally pink was hard! This is the closest we got!
Kristi and I just rocking it in front of the Bridge. The building behind it is the Royal Palace. I think I would like one of those one day!
Going out at night is really fun. This is the Parliament building. Honestly, we thought it would make more of an impression :(
We were pretty bummed when we got kicked out of Conference ( I am pretty sure we knew most of it anyway!), but exploring the riverside was a lot of fun. Since we are all old and married we never made it out much at night, but I think that is going to change, because we had a really awesome time listening to TERRIBLE renditions of "twist and shout" and looking at what this gorgeous city has to offer!
Overall, it wasn't a bad way to spend a weekend!

Fun adventures. And yes, Braden would have LOVED climbing all over the boat.
So I've now read the first two books in the Hunger Games series...thought you might be proud! :) Which means I understood your "district 13" reference haha. Also, I think the pic on the pink bridge makes you guys look like vampires! So cool.
We are just prepping for our trip to Dracula's castle, birthplace, and castle where he was imprisoned! Wait for those pics and you will see some real live vampires
