Post Christmas Catch-up Session

Since I have been terrible at blogging I decided it is time to do a quick catch up blog.  To be honest, there is not much to tell so this will be quick.

In January, Brent worked absolutely CRAZY hours.  He usually works about 45 hours a week and he worked more than 60 hours every single week in January.  It was also his birthday but we just relaxed considering the fact that he was in trail and he was so tired.  January went very quickly and that is when we learned that we were having a little GIRL!

In February, Brent was still crazy at work, but he was also studying for the Oregon Bar.  At the end of the month we went to Portland for Brent to take the bar.  I tagged along to spend time with family and just relax.  It was a really good time and I got to see and spend time with family.

March was a busy time. Luckily, work had calmed down a little for Brent but the Stand Down at my work was just picking up.  I mid- March my grandpa, T. Blair Evans, passed away.  We were able to travel home to attend the funeral, celebrate his life and spend time with the entire Evans clan.  I plan to do a short blog about what a remarkable man my grandfather was.   The Stand Down went off without a hitch.

That pretty much catches us up.  You can look forward to the following blogs...

Christmas in Seattle

This may be a few months behind but it is time to catch up!

This year we went to Seattle to enjoy some time at Jason and Christina, Brent's brother and sister-in-law, new house.  We flew in early Saturday morning and were able to spend the day with the Forsberg Clan.  Luckily, Toren and Audrey live in Seattle so everyone who was within a few hours drove up so we could see and spend time together.  This meant a lot of little Austin time.

I have to admit, I have an adorable nephew.  He knew Christmas was in full swing and he was more than happy to play elf when we did family presents, even though it was
Toren who just can not wait to open presents.  When we went out the the Jungle Cafe he kept an eye on the automotronic monkeys near our tables.  He got a lot of little presents from all his aunties and especially grandma!

It was fun being able to do gifts with the Forsberg side.  More than just getting the gifts is seeing what wonderful things others received.  My mom got Austin the cutest trampoline and it took all men present (Toren, Brent, Blair, and Dad) to assemble the toy. Blair had us in the sibling exchange and he got us a beautiful sign for the babies new room.  My mom also got me something I had always wanted, a willowtree statue of a pregnant woman.  I am not a huge sculpture person but this one had always resonated with me, and I am so grateful she was thoughtful enough to give it to me.

We finished our quick Forsberg day with ice cream at sub zero and a drive up to make the Forsberg-Huntley exchange.

Once we were at the Huntley side, the relaxing began.  I always forget how nice it is to just go with the flow.  Jason lives out in the boondocks of the Seattle Metro Area.  Behind his house is government protected woodland, which means there is no one there... like at all.  So for Christmas, Brent and I went hiking and spent time shooting!

I am not a great shot but I love trying!
Brents mom was terrified of trying.  Jason is trying to convince her the backfire won't be bad at all.
She eventually gave in... Look at that form!
Tyler had come up as well.  She was the one we really had to convince it would be okay to shoot the gun.  Eventually, she gave in!
We went hiking in the woods.  This was still a time when I wasn't feeling so great so Brent  spent a lot of time exploring and I spent as much as I wanted.  When we weren't out playing we got to relax, play bingo, talk, go shopping and just enjoy doing nothing!

I got to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.  It is such a beautiful home!  I bought some Chocolate milk at the store, which is a Forsberg favorite, but I am pretty sure Brent and I drank it all.
Finally the big day arrived.  Brent's side does Christmas a little different.  Family presents are on Christmas even and only Santa presents arrive on Christmas.  I have to admit, I hate the idea of not having any presents to open on Christmas morning, so I made Brent hold all our presents to each other until Christmas day.

Brent got me a new computer, two pairs of earrings (one set of pearls, and one set of sapphires), and a heart rate monitor.  I got him a bunch of smaller stuff and a nice watch he liked.  Overall, the presents were perfect!
Since we are both so young in our careers we had to leave Christmas day, but neither of us were ready to go.  It was sad to say goodbye, but Christmas really was the perfect break!  Thank you Jason and Christina for hosting us!  We are truly grateful to spend the celebration of the saviors birth with our family!
